A Spirit of Participation

The educational programme of any top school should reflect a balance between academic, cultural, environmental and sporting activities. In this respect, Bergvliet endeavours to remain at the cutting edge of each pursuit.
With a wide selection of sports to choose from, there is a place for every pupil, no matter what their level of skill, interest or objective may be. Sport builds confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and a sense of belonging – we believe it is critical to the emotional, social and physical development of our pupils.
Sport is particularly well suited as a means through which life lessons can be learnt and one’s character developed. Through sport, a pupil will learn to win and to lose; to know when to strive for more and when to be gracious in defeat; to push themselves; to lead as well as to be led; to think as a member of a team; to adapt and to co-operate.
Pupils are encouraged to take up sporting and cultural activities. Sports practices take place twice a week so there is ample opportunity for them to become involved in both.
