Thundercats Print E-mail
On Saturday we competed in our first Stunt competition. In the 5 girl stunt groups we entered two teams and competed against Stellenbosch High School. We took 1st and 3rd in this section and took 1st and 2nd in the partner stunts section. The Thundercats worked extremely hard to get to where they are today. Saturday was about exposing them to the competition scene and procedures and we are very excited for our first team competition which is on the 7th of March at Groote Schuur High school, where we will participate against 7 other schools.  We are excited to see what is lying ahead for this amazing group.
Go Thundercats!!

2019 Matric Results Print E-mail

Dear Parents, Friends and Family of BHS.

Mr. Price has written a full report on our 2019 Matric Performance, which you can download here - In summary, we are proud to announce that we have a 99% pass rate for 2019 (191 out of 193 passed), a 79% (152 pupils) bachelors pass rate and 13 pupils scored over 80%. Junain Wei topped the grade with 86.7% and 7 distinctions, followed closely by Cole Stanley with 85.9% and 7 distinctions as well. Please download Mr. Price's report at the above link to see a full breakdown of the Top 20 as well as more information.

Thank you to all the staff and pupils who put in so much hard work to make this result possible. Well done to the class of 2019 and we look forward to even better results from the class of 2020.
Siyavula Print E-mail
Siyavula is an online Maths (and Science) platform used by the learners at Bergvliet High School in an effort to enhance their results by increasing the time they can spend practising in the subjects. In the month of October Siyavula holds a #1millionmaths challenge in which learners at schools utilising Siyavula are invited to help them reach their goal of completing 1 million maths exercises in one month. The aim of this is to help learners to get ready for their exams by practising their maths with some healthy competition. Names are posted on leader boards weekly and winners in each grade stand a chance to win smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Two Bergvliet High School learners did exceptionally well in this competition and featured in these weekly updates: Loufran Duncan (grade 10) and Micah Retief (grade 9). Micah unfortunately never placed in the top 3 at the end of the competition despite completing thousands of exercises, but Loufran finished in first position in the platinum league in grade 10 and therefore won an Acer Extensa Intel Celeron N3060 15.6" Notebook! This entailed Loufran completing 7278 questions which resulted in 688 190 “atoms” achieved.

Loufran is pictured with Deborah Torrington, the Siyavula representative who works with BHS as she hands over his prize.  Well done to Loufran and we look forward to having many more participants in 2020!
