 Meghan van Wyk in Grade 12 has been awarded full colours for Western Province swimming.
Meghan started swimming in the year 2007 with Barracudas Swimming Club.
She has been a part of the girls swim team since grade 8 and enjoys instructing novice swimmers at our school. She particularly excelled in the administration of the swim team and she assisted with many open day displays.
In 2008 Meghan was selected to swim in Bloemfontein at National level where she swam 6 different events and improved on most of her times.
This season, however, Meghan has achieved and maintained good times for the various strokes. She was selected to represent Western Province for breaststroke. She has just returned from the South African National Schools competition where she swam the 200m breaststroke. This event she completed in an excellent time of 3 min:24 seconds:38 splits.
Meghan also swam the South African Open water series, where she received a bronze medal for females' 14-30 age group for a 1km swim.
Her main goal is to represent Western Province at nationals level and to represent South Africa overseas.
Meghan is a worthy recipient of Full Colours for swimming. |
