Jessica Manig, and Al Shama travelled to Johannesburg, Kyalami Equestrian Park and competed in mid June 2010 at Kyalami for South African Pony Rider Championships and excelled in the show jumping (CD level) after only a short stint in show jumping, and went on to win the CD Championship with 2 seconds to spare before the next competitors time.
The classes were huge with 68 riders from all over South Africa competing. She came second in the CD Competition class, and based on only these 2 scores out of 4 of the CD classes, she was announced as the Victor Ludorum for that level making him SA Pony Rider Champion for that height. Western Province won the team novice show jumping largely assisted by her great results in the championship class. Al Shama will now move up to CC level.
Al Shama is a purebred Arabian horse, built for speed and endurance. Jess and her sister have insisted he do dressage. His scores at SA Champs were consistent and he achieved a 5th in the musical freestyle and consistent scores in his dressage. |
