Painting/Art Workshop: Get Creative

Derric is brimming with charisma and love for all things artistic and one is not only inspired by his art, for which he has received much acclaim, but by the fact that he is also an experienced lecturer and teacher. Derric will introduce you to Acrylics and you will be taught the techniques needed to work with this medium. The course components will consist of the following: Orientation and demonstration by the artist; Learning to draw and paint what you want to see; Translating what you see into what you want to see, using: colour; composition; texture and tonal values and Finding your “signature” - completing “the blank canvas”.
No previous experience is needed. Appropriate clothing should be worn. Course requirements will be advised on registration. Please note: this course is always over-subscribed, so register early to avoid disappointment.

Create your own table runner (170cm x 350cm) or small table cloth (100cm x 100cm) in this class while at the same time learning how to apply paint to fabric, blend colours, use a fabric liner and how to seal colour onto fabric. You will also be told how to paint on dark fabric and how to use extender. All course requirements will be provided in kit form at a cost of R80, which needs to be paid to Leisl at the workshop. You will need to indicate on your registration form whether you would prefer to do the runner or the tablecloth. Please bring an apron along.

Mixed Media Mosaic Mirror

In this workshop, you will create a 40 cm x 30 cm mirror. You will decorate it with tiles, stained glass and crockery. You will also be shown how to make your own mosaic tiles using découpage. Please feel free to bring along any special beads, stones, broken jewellery, ceramic inserts, serviettes, broken crockery etc. to add to your project if you like, but everything you will need to complete the project will be included in the kit which needs to be purchased from Jasmine on the first night at a cost of R150.
