This fun, relaxed course is aimed at beginner drawers who want to expand their “portfolios” to incorporate a more 3-dimensional view of the world! You will learn the basic drawing techniques that will enable your stick figure to look like a real three dimensional person, by teaching you shading, tonal values and mark making. Visual material, pencils, paper and charcoal will be supplied for the 1st session. Thereafter requirements will be advised.

Learn the artistic craft of picture framing from a professional. This workshop covers various aspects of framing, from the basics to advanced techniques, and since the course only caters for three course participants at a time, each course participant will receive a high level of individual attention which will ensure that on leaving the course, you are able to produce quality frames using tools which are easily accessible! All framing materials and equipment provided for use in the course.

Create your own table runner (170cm x 350cm) or small table cloth (100cm x 100cm) in this class while at the same time learning how to apply paint to fabric, blend colours, use a fabric liner and how to seal colour onto fabric. You will also be told how to paint on dark fabric and how to use extender. All course requirements will be provided in kit form at a cost of R80, which needs to be paid to Leisl at the workshop. You will need to indicate on your registration form whether you would prefer to do the runner or the tablecloth. Please bring an apron along.

In this workshop, you will be shown how to découpage a 40 cm x 30 cm mirror and then mosaic it afterwards using clear glass tiles. You will find out about the various tools needed to create a mosaic piece, preparation of surfaces, different adhesives, how to use different mediums such as tiles, glass and crockery, different methods of mosaic and how to grout your mosaic. The kit, which contains everything you will use in for the project, needs to be purchased from Jasmine on the first night at a cost of R120.

Make two decorative mosaic terracotta pots for your kitchen or garden. The following mediums will be made use of: tiles, stained glass and crockery. Please feel free to bring along your own beads, stones, broken jewellery, inserts etc. if you would like to add your own personal touch, but all the materials you will need to complete the project will be available in the kit, which costs R70. Have you ever wanted to start beading, walked into a bead shop, and not known where to begin!! This course will equip you with the knowledge to tackle most beading projects with confidence and you will use beads that are easily accessible in most beading shops. You will learn to use a different medium every week, i.e. tiger tail, ribbon, waxed cord and elastic and in the process, you will make 4 different items – including a crystal necklace. You will have hours of fun creating items for yourself and friends! The kit for the full course, which costs R150, needs to be purchased from Shirley on the first night.
