SOUTH AFRICA

Badminton

Debbi Godfrey Grade 11 recently became SA u 19 Triple Badminton Champion at the SA u19 Championships held in Pretoria from 5 – 12 July. Here Debbi is pictured with her 3 trophies.

Debbi was also part of the Western Province team, which tied in first position with the Free State.

In October Debbie wiil represent SA in the Juniour Commonwealth games in India.

 

 

Wheelchair Dancing

Chaeli Mycroft and Jesse Randelhoff participated in the Wheelchair Dancing World Cup in Holland on 23 & 24 March 2007.

This was the first time either of them had been overseas and they did very well in their first international competition by coming 5th in Latin and 3rd in Ballroom.

It was quite an experience competing in a championship where there were 250 couples competing, and having to pit their skills against 20 couples in their own category.

 

Bass Fishing

Having already achieved his SA colours and WP colours in Bass Fishing Grade 8 learner Dean de Wet will be flying to New York in August to compete for his Federational Colours.

Karate

Matthew Bernstein and Erik Hanel were part of the South African squad which took 1st place in the Kimura Shukokai (Karate) International Championships in Zurich in July 2008.

Individually Erik achieved Gold in Unison Kata while Matthew achieved 4th place in Kumite and 5th place in Kata

The championship attracts 1000 individual entries from 22 countries.

 


WESTERN PROVINCE

GYMNASTICS

Brandon Hampson’s recently achieved Western Province colours for gymnastics, in the South African National Gymnastics Games held in Bellville 29 September to 4 October 2008 where he represented the Western Cape Team and achieved 4th place overall and a bronze medal on Floor.

These learners represented Western Province Schools at the Western Cape Championships in Bellville on Saturday 16 February 2008. They will be competing for a place in the Western Cape team against swimmers from Boland and South Western Districts.

U14 – Displaying lots of talent. In the past two weeks he has scored 100 and 93 runs respectively.

Andrea has been selected as a member of the South African Protea Team to participate in the FIG and World Age Group Competition in Ulm, Germany from 19 – 27 April 2008.
