NEWS FROM THE 50’S

David Muller 1965

I’m off to Cameroon to represent South Africa in the African Children's Theatre Festival in Yaoundé from 7th to 14th November.

The critically acclaimed children's musical play SNAKE MAGIC adapted from an African legend by Heather Mac is taking part in the African Festival of Children's Theatre, in Yaoundé, capital of Cameroon.

Snake Magic tackles many different current issues that face children today, namely bullying, jealousy, gender conflict and animal rights and conservation. The cast of Deon Nebulane, Lindelwa Kisana and myself is very excited about performing in Cameroon. They will be sharing their South African experiences and training with Cameroonian thespians with the strong likelihood of facilitating workshops as well as participating in the Cameroonian theatre classes.

Representing South Africa in this African Children's Festival makes one very proud indeed. We knew in March that there was a chance of being part of the Festival and now it’s happening.

Any one who wants to share in an unforgettable Central African experience is welcome to call me on 0729865311 to discuss sponsoring this venture.

NEWS FROM THE 70’S

Mike Levy (Michael “Tilly “Katz) 1976

I recently visited BHS and enjoyed the pics of my old mates… mmmm. Wandering are we all so weathered and old? Since living in Walvis Bay for the last 10 years, I have been a bit busy setting up a new life, I know that it was over thirty years ago that I was privileged enough to enjoy your company, and you probably won’t remember me, however I would enjoy a bit of news from my classmates especially those I was close to.
What’s’ happened to Philip Hare, Deidre’, Vicki, Annette, Billy & Mel? (I would like their email if someone could provide)

Cindy Thompson

It was a wonderful day, the sun shone (even thought it was mid-Autumn), everything went off without a hitch, and the party, in true Serbian tradition,  lasted for 3 days
(George is a 3rd generation Canadian of Serbian descent)  Cindy had a King
Protea in her bouquet and the bridesmaids had pincushions amongst other flowers.

REUNIONS

1974 Reunion

Good day Old Bergies

Well its been a while since I last communicated with you Guys and Girls…my how time flies when you are having fun !!!!!

2008 is almost a thing of the past as we march on towards December, the final hurdle of the year.

For those of you that matriculated in 1974, next year will be a biggie……… it will be our 35 year Anniversary .

I am making early contact to sow the seed, we need to have a special “Get- together” during 2009, so get your thoughts together.

Firstly, I need a small committee (3 or 4 of us) to undertake a few small enquiries etc. (Roy, Ray, Steve Kelly, Steve Mac, are you guys in with me)

Then, secondly, we also need to provisionally pick a suitable time during the year in which to have this function.

This will allow for those who will have to travel from afar to make suitable travel and accomodation arrangements.

Steve Mac has already indicated that he will again be joining us from “ Down Under ” (thanks Steve for all your support)

I also seem to have lost contact with a few people on my original mailing list, as their e-mails bounce back to me.

I will make a note of the names and circulate them to enable you guys to assist me if finding these missing Bergies.

As in the past, please note that this function will not be limited to those of you who matriculated in 1974, we need to keep all the Old Bergies together, as in some cases certain Matric years do not have any reunions for past pupils to attend.

So all of you included in my e-mail list are definitely most welcome to attend

If you are keen to attend this reunion, please send me confirmation in due course, numbers are necessary to get the wheels in motion.

We will again look at the possibility of arranging a special memento to commemorate this once in-a-lifetime occasion, so if you have contacts in the promotional items field, please let me know.

Well, that’s it for now, I will be in contact again soon.

P.S Please don’t forget to let me know if you are keen to celebrate this occasion with us, this is no a commitment, but simply to give me an idea of numbers interested.
