It was just the other day that I was writing the end of year message for the newsletter and here I am penning a welcome back message. It would appear, from the screams of delight as friends met back at school after the holidays that most pupils are ecstatic to be back at school.
We welcome two new staff members, Mr G. Hillebrand (Science/Maths) and Ms K. Randelhoff (Life Science/Maths) and three more learnerships – Mr. S. Pattenden, Ms P. Colly and Mr B. Merckel to the academic staff. We wish them a happy and fulfilling stay at Bergvliet. Mr. J. Ripepi has joined as a network administrator.
There is so much potential in the new Grade 8 group and we can’t wait for their positive contribution in the coming year. A number of pupils in Grades 9 – 12 have also joined us at Bergvliet and we look forward to their contribution. Our matric results have shown significant successes in key performance areas and we believe that the emphasis on delivery of a world class education is the reason for this. We have acknowledged the matrics elsewhere on the website.
There is a community within our school that has largely been neglected and that is our parents. We are looking for increased communication from our parents, increased interaction with our parents and increased participation of our parents in 2012. Up until now we have engaged mainly on the academic level but we would encourage their involvement in sport attendances, social gatherings and the re-introduction of the fundraising capacity through a Parent Association. Our past pupils are another focus group in 2012.
So we’re back …. Not quite from “outta space” but we will survive and we know that 2012 will be a year of further successes and growth. |
