Bergvliet High School’s matric dance this year was an evening full of memories, laughter and sheer delight. The theme for the evening was “Vintage." The evening was characterised by an 'olde world' feeling with large posters of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and other famous people from that era. On entering the venue there was a mannequin with a beautiful red vintage dress on display, old gramophone and telephones, with brass statues and roses to add to the theme.
Special highlights included a dance by a Bergvliet dance group and towards the end of the evening all matrics were called on to the dance floor and the band played 'Forever Young' during this 50 gold and silver balloons were released above them.
Organisers Mrs Geraldine van der Westhuizen and Mrs Sherry George went out of their way to make sure the evening was very special for the 198 matrics who attended. Photos on the evening were taken by Mr Gavin Withers and Mr Charles Smith. Mrs van der Westhuizen said, “It was a matric dance which will be remembered and talked about for many years to come”.
A selection of photos are available in the Gallery.
