School Fees and Levies Print E-mail

Under the current system only 32 approved posts are paid by the state. All other costs have to be financed by school fees, the payment of which is compulsory. Fees may be paid for the year in advance or over ten months (February to November), preferably by debit order.

In view of escalating costs the above fees are subject to revision by the Governing Body from time to time. The fees for 2010 are R13,900 per learner.

TEXTBOOK AND DESK LEVY
The school charges a once off fee equivalent to 15% of the annual fee per learner on admission for textbooks and a desk and chair for five years. Should the learner leave the school earlier, a pro-rata amount is refundable. This levy is payable in full prior to the learner starting at the school.

SPECIALISED MUSIC – GRADE 8 AND 9
A fee of R4,000 per annum is charged for Grade 8 and 9 learners who wish to take the voluntary option of specialised music. This covers the costs of individual tuition. The music fee is payable on or before the first day of the first term.

Important
Applications for exemption to be in by 28 February each year.

The Governing Body has adopted a realistic approach to those parents who can not afford to pay the full amount. A copy of our prescribed application form for reduced fees can be downloaded here, and must be completed and returned to the bursar by 28 February. The application must be properly motivated, and must provide authentic documentation proving the gross family income before tax, as well as detail of assets, liabilities and current expenses (see form for details). Any applicant for reduced fees will also be asked to indicate in what ways they could serve the school in lieu of any fee reduction that might be granted. Please note that any reduction is applicable to one year only, and parents must re-apply annually.

Parents will note that a Voluntary Payment to the above Fund has been added to your Statement. This is entirely voluntary. The money raised from this donation is used to fund improvements to the school facilities. If you do not wish to contribute kindly ignore this entry on your account.
