Bergvliet High matric learner Megan Hudson writes about her once-in-a-lifetime trip to Soccer City to see the final of the FIFA 2010 World Cup

"Junaid and I arrived in Johannesburg on the morning of the 10 July. We were picked up and taken on a brief tour and then escorted to the City Lodge, our accommodation, where we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. We were a group of 20 students from each province which made Junaid and I feel truly privileged to be the two students from the Western Cape. The next morning we were driven to Cell C’s head office where we were briefed about what was going to happen that day and the details about the night. We were also presented with a goodie bag which contained: a hoodie, long sleeved sweater, scarf, beanie, a makarapa and a vuvuzela, all sponsored by Cell C, but more importantly we received our tickets..

We left Cell C at about 4pm and headed to Soccer City. Finally we got to our suite, the Cell C box. Here we met the CEO of Cell C. Out of the 20 of us, only 3 supported Netherlands, I being one of them and Junaid and the other 17 were all supporters of Spain. Throughout the game we were served various luxury foods and treated as absolute royalty. We got back to the hotel at about 1:30am the next morning and got ready for our flight which was at 7am. We would never have expected to be treated like such royalty and we are so grateful to BHS and to Cell C for providing such an amazing opportunity for us."

Forever grateful
Megan Hudson
